Change Is Scary (even on a crappy blog)

So I’m experimenting with an entirely different website theme. Even though I liked my previous dark and dreary theme, it was getting to be a pain to fine-tune and it was not so mobile-device-friendly. I’m trying out a new theme by Spyr Media. What do you think? I feel like I just walked in to a new bar and I’m still testing out its vibe. I’m still not positive that I’m dressed right for this place. I’m still exploring their cocktail menu. But I think I like it. If you don’t like it, let’s blame Michael Schechter over at bettermess.com. He’s had a nasty habit of giving me a lot of smart advice lately.

By the way, a new video will post on July 14th. It will also be about change.

I really like this new look. It is really nice. Look dear Sometime changes made is beneficial for us. and I feel no scary in this. i really appreciate this new look.

 @Erin F.  In this case, I'm partially to blame. I knew what I was getting into when I reached out to @MSchechter  for advice... This gives you an idea of how desperate I was getting...!

Change can be scary, but it also signifies growth. I think your site has a great look. Congrats on the new theme and going forward with your change!

Like the new look, but I'm not willing to give Schechter any credit for it. Also wanted to let you know that the link on "Follow on YouTube" goes to your Vimeo page. I thought it might actually be a joke saying, "I'm not on YouTube, you can only follow me on Vimeo." But then I found YuviGroovy. Looking forward to the next video.

 @trchandler ...And as for not crediting @MSchechter ... I'm afraid his propaganda ministry is too strong for any of us to stop. Just yesterday, they were claiming that Schechter invented Internet 2.0... and the forthcoming Internet 3.0... and the technique of hiding in the bathroom with your iPhone when you're supposed to be feeding the kids.

 @trchandler It must have been my passive aggressive way to punish YouTube for being less elegant than Vimeo. I've corrected the problem... for now. Thanks for the feedback, Todd!

Wow, you got up and running pretty darn quick! Happy? Is there a lot on the "cocktail menu" or can you really not mess with the theme all that much?

I do like it. I'm finding that some parts are customizable and some are less so. For instance, I don't necessarily need the SUBSCRIBE area to be so front-and-center, but I like the slider of images at the top right, and nothing else seems to fit nicely beside it other than SUBSCRIBE.

 

I also agree with your (offline) suggestion about adding more lowbrow drawings and images to make it more of my own scene...

 @yuvizalkow I don't know about you, but I think it makes a big difference! Feels more like you. One more suggestion, while I'm being nosey. Get the FitVids for WordPress Plugin, It will make your video embeds responsive. Right now they aren't scaling with the site.
