Yuvi’s September 2025 Update

OK. You got me. I’m a crappy blogger. <insert list of excuses here that shows my vulnerability while also being funny, but also isn’t too depressing or too jokey, but still acknowledges the complexities of living in 2025, and somehow still doesn’t make you annoyed with me>

Now that we’ve gotten those excuses out of the way, here’s an update on my various creative-ish things.

  • Writing. I’m working on a maybe-hopefully-possibly-close-to-final draft of my historical novel. This is the novel I’ve been working on since 2006. I started this story years before my first novel even got published. And I kept getting stuck on one aspect or another with this story. But it’s feeling close this year. It’s gotten some thoughtful reads from some thoughtful people (friends, editors, agent). And I’m trying to make final adjustments on it before sending it out. Will I really really finish it soon? I honestly don’t know. I’m in a weird headspace. But this story has kept my interest, and feels particularly resonant today.

  • Coding. I released a huge update to my mobile app (Neurotic Stix Pro) where you can build customized, animated stickers with your own captions. I added all kinds of zany features like the ability to make 3-panel comics from your stickers, and loads of widgets and weather updates and other features. And there are more sticker templates than ever.

  • YouTubing. Videos have been on hold. Though I’m toying with making a video about how I approached the most recent draft of my novel manuscript using Claude Code, which is traditionally an AI tool used for coding, but I adjusted it to help for writing-related conversations. Stay tuned over the next 27.5 months on that update.

  • Gaming. Video games are still really really really fun and they’re keeping me a little more sane these days. Expedition 33 was exciting enough for me to make a 40-minute video about it (you had me at French video game about grief and loss). I’m also loving Silksong, which is brutally hard, but beautiful and compelling.

  • Living. Here’s the thing. The world is messy; it feels extra messy and scary right now. Health issues with family have been complicated too. But I’m trying to savor the little moments as much as possible.

Back again soon. Hopefully. Take care.

Neurotic Stix Pro has over 70 dumb sticker templates to choose from… Even a talking slice of pizza, in case that comes in handy.
